I felt silly looking for a costume at this age, but she insists that I’m going to love Halloween. After stopping in several stores and looking at a million costumes, we finally found a matching set. It looks like this Halloween I am going to be a robber. Even though my outfit isn’t that amazing, it is not my costume that I am supposed to be excited about. |

What upsets me even more is what my father said the other day. The man cannot come to grips with reality. Everything just somehow always relates to God. His sister is dying and he can still manage to say it is the will of God. Just writing this down almost brings me to tears. I am really confused.

Originally published at Memories of Matthew. Please leave any comments there. Last night, Katlyn and I went to the city to get some Italian food. I cannot even remember the last time I went to an upscale restaurant. Usually I would prefer Japanese food, especially sushi, but Katlyn seems to be a big fan of Italian. I could tell how much she loved Italian food by the way she could pronounce everything on the menu.

Originally published at Memories of Matthew. Please leave any comments there. Hey everyone, John here. Life has been very hectic for me these past few months, and honestly, school comes first. I started putting off schoolwork to type of some of the entries and I realized the negative affect it was having on my grades. Unfortunately, the courses I am currently taking involve a lot of research and writing of really really long papers. After doing all that on almost a daily basis, I have no motivation to type up the entries from Matts journal. However, the semester ends pretty soon. This should give me more time to type up his entries. I apologize for the lack of updates and I appreciate your readership. I hope that you continue to check in for updates. They will be coming again soon.
Thanks
John |

Originally published at Memories of Matthew. Please leave any comments there. Today after class, I tried to figure out why people believe in their religions so much. If someone came forward today and said, “God has been speaking to me every night for the past two years. I have written down all He has told me. The book is called the Modern Testament,” he would probably be labeled as a nut case. However, that basically is what a prophet is.

Originally published at Memories of Matthew. Please leave any comments there. Friday night was crazy. My friends and I all met up at Mike’s house, but plans changed. Mike was supposed to throw a party, but instead we heard about some other one at one of Aaron’s friends’ frat. We decided to head over there instead. There was no parking anywhere because it was so packed, so we ended up having to walk two blocks.

Originally published at Memories of Matthew. Please leave any comments there. Today, after my morning classes, I had lunch with Katlyn again. Having lunch together has become routine now. While eating, we spoke about how boring our professor is. I would think that a class like psychology would be interesting, but some how my professor still manages to make me want to kill myself.

Originally published at Memories of Matthew. Please leave any comments there. Yesterday, Katlyn and I spent the whole day together. She said she wanted to do something different, so I decided to take her to a driving range. Not only was it a way for us to try something new, but it also let me whack a couple of balls. The driving range helped me get rid of some extra aggression and tension. The only problem was I couldn’t hit the damn things. Half the time, my swing would miss everything except the air. Katlyn was just as bad. Most of the time, we would look up at each other and simply laugh at our futile attempts to drive the balls. Now I know for the next time not to buy the jumbo bucket of balls, it is way too many.

Originally published at Memories of Matthew. Please leave any comments there. Recently, a family emergency came up and I was unable to type up the entries as I normally do. Everything is now back to normal, so I’ll try to post the entries I’ve missed in a reasonable time frame in order to get back on track. On that note, I’m going to type one up now and then go to sleep.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Originally published at Memories of Matthew. Please leave any comments there. I am finally feeling 100% better now. I was surprised to catch a fever that severe because I am usually not the type to get sick so easily. I can’t even remember the last time I was sick. After I woke up yesterday, I cleaned up the dorm a bit and drove home. It’s great not having Friday classes. My parents have been bothering the shit out of me. They have been asking me to come and visit for some time now. I am assuming they wanted me to come because of my birthday.

Originally published at Memories of Matthew. Please leave any comments there. I seriously have the worst luck ever. On Sunday night, I began to feel very ill. I got a whole bunch of phone calls at 12am from friends and Katlyn wishing me a Happy Birthday. Little did I know, my illness was going to become a horrible fever. On Monday, my birthday, I woke up feeling the same.. I felt like complete shit. That is exactly how things work for me, on my birthday, I get sick. I have to laugh at the irony.

Originally published at Memories of Matthew. Please leave any comments there. Friday night I had the time of my life. In fact, it has been an unbelievable weekend altogether. I went on my first date with Katlyn. I know we have spent a couple of afternoons hanging out, but Friday night was the first time we actually labeled it a date. She put the whole night in my hands, so for starters, I decided to take her out to eat. This time, instead of a public school setting or my dorm, I made sure to pick a spot as romantic and personal as possible. The whole “movie idea” did come to mind, but since I don’t know her as well as I would like to, I thought it would be better to sit down and just converse. Going to the movies is fun and all, but I always felt it doesn’t give you time to chitchat. Instead, you are concentrating on the screen, not your date.
We had a great time in each others company and the food was incredible. After we ate our main meal, I told her not to have dessert. I took her to this little café where they serve the best tiramisu I’ve ever had. I let her try a bite and she instantly fell in love with the taste. She kept asking me to give her just one more taste in a cute, soft-spoken voice. It was genuinely cute and every time she spoke, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up.

Originally published at Memories of Matthew. Please leave any comments there. Today was another great day with Katlyn. During the entire psych class we passed notes to each other. It reminded me of when I was young, like the children in elementary school and the way they pass their little love letters. It was hard to concentrate in class because every time we passed a note, our hands would touch momentarily and she’d look at me and smile. I can’t help but to smile back. Her eyes are so beautiful and her smile is stunning. She really blows me away. I still have no clue what the lecture was about, but it is still my best class for the simple reason that she is there with me.

Originally published at Memories of Matthew. Please leave any comments there. So my classes started yesterday, and at first it looked like it was going to be another shitty semester. Out of the three classes, not even one of them seemed to spark the slightest interest in me. It’s kind of funny because I am taking a class on religion, which right now seems to be one of my main interests. The professor looked like a minister or something and spent the entire class talking about what it means to be spiritual. I couldn’t tell if he was teaching or preaching. I was so tempted to just start arguing and countering his beliefs. Either way, I’m going to love arguing with him every week. He has no idea what he is in for.
